Construction Accidents

Every commercial or private work site requires the construction companies to inspect all aspects of the construction site. Additionally, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has developed construction site safety standards and regulations which apply to all construction site workers, construction site equipment, and training for all construction site workers. Unfortunately, OSHA believes that more than 1,000 construction workers will be killed on a construction site this year, where most of these deaths could have been prevented.

Workers injured on construction sites may be able to sue the owner, its agents and contractors, for all damages sustained by virtue of any physical harm which has occurred to them. Such suits are permitted on behalf of injured workers in addition to workers' compensation benefits they may have received.

The most common construction site hazards include:

  • Falls from heights;
  • Motor vehicle crashes;
  • Electrocution;
  • Machine malfunctions;
  • Being struck by falling objects;
  • Noise that leads to hearing loss;
  • Exposure to asbestos, harmful chemicals or gases;
  • Trench collapses;
  • Fires and explosions

While construction site operators cannot eliminate all of the above hazards, they do have a duty to act as reasonably prudent construction operators would act given the situation. That means that construction site operators must comply with all applicable safety regulations and take common sense safety precautions.

Sustaining a construction accident can cause you and your family pain and suffering and financial distress. If you or a loved one has been injured n a work or jobsite call 949-492-9944
